Media Networks Laboratory is participating in the FP7/SEC SAVASA Project, with a total budget of Eur 4M, aiming at providing a common platform for Surveillance Systems based on a cloud infrastructure. in the frame of this project MNL will implement the distributed video surveillance network (using cloud computing technology). Additionally MNL will develop the network security components for secure archive access and retrieval in the distributed video archive architecture based on an IP environment. The project started on December 12, 2011.

Project overview: The SAVASA project aims to create a common platform that provides for the decoupling of CCTV and Video Archive installations from technologies that are generally proprietary and based on diverse technical principles. The SAVASA project introduces an innovative cloud based service for the secure search and access to remote video archives namely Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS).
